YOU ARE ONE OF ANIMAL LOVERS WHO HAVE VISITED THIS SITE - WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN US IN MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF ANIMALS IN NORTHEAST KANSAS AND BEYOND!
Animal overpopulation is a major problem worldwide, two animal welfare organizations serving Pottawatomie and Wabaunsee Counties in Kansas, the Paws to Love Animal Rescue, Inc. and the Pottawatomie and Wabaunsee County Animal Response Team, Inc., merged in September 2007 to spearhead an effort to address this monumental problem locally, through education and a spay/neuter voucher program.
This merger called, “Paws to Love,” includes the following activities which will PROVIDE ANIMAL WELFARE SERVICES (PAWS) to pet owners in both Pottawatomie and Wabaunsee Counties:
This subsidized spay/neuter voucher program is designed to provide more affordable services to those with financial need.Paws to Love does not provide subsidized spay/neuter to those who can readily afford such services, nor does it expect private veterinarians to reduce their costs.Paws to Love raises funds to subsidize the costs of a spay/neuter for residents of Pottawatomie and Wabaunsee Counties who are on public assistance and are referred by a social services agency. We are currently working to develop protocols with several agencies serving our two counties.Application information regarding referring agency will remain confidential.
Pottawatomie & Wabaunsee County Animal Response Team (PAWCART) (785) 220-3242: PAWCART's primary function is to provide for the humane treatment of animals in disaster. Not only will our CART respond to animals in what is viewed as a "typical" disaster such as tornado, ice storm, or flood, but they will also respond to single events such as house fires and motor vehicle accidents.
Therapy Animals Assisting People (TAAP) (785) 313-0121: TAAP is a program developed and coordinated by Kim Garver Brown (Pottawatomie Co. CART Coordinator) to certify therapy dogs for those living with mental illness.
